Abducted 7-Month-Old Baby Re-Unites With Parents

For the Chukwuka Eze family in Enugu it was jubilation galore on Wednesday as they re-united with their only child seven-month-old, Chibuzor. The baby was abducted from their home on Monday in Enugu. Chibuzor was in the custody of a nanny when the child's parents went to work and was released two days later in Nsukka by the abductors, after the parents reportedly paid a ransom.

Reports say that Chibuzor's parents were joined at their Hillview residence by relations, friends and well wishers, who sang hymns and choruses in appreciation of God's preservation of their baby. Eze, the child's father said the baby was found in Nsukka, two days after the abduction. He added that though his child ran slight temperature at the time of his release, he was generally okay.

``We are happy and have re-united again with our son. We shall be giving a testimony on Sunday in the church. The ordeal is better imagined than experienced as it was indeed harrowing," he said. His wife, Ihunanya, decried the level of insecurity in the state and called on security agents to beef up security in the neighborhoods. ``These hoodlums struck when we had gone to work.

They came, over powered my nanny and took my child away. ``If there were street cameras and other security gadgets in place, there would have been instant help from the police but we thank God we found him," she said. Police spokesman in Enugu Ebele Amaraizu said the kidnappers were trailed to Nsukka through the telephone signals used in contacting the parents of the victim for a ransom, adding that security operatives were still on their trail.
